Your Initial Interview is 30 minutes and free.
We will discuss your needs and a plan of action.
With your approval, I can perform these services:
Is your child reading at age or grade level?
Is your child with ADHD struggling with reading?
I can evaluate your child's reading ability and empower you with the knowledge, tools, and resources to advocate for your child's success.
Are you concerned your child has a reading disability or Dyslexia?
Working one-on-one with you and your child, I will review your child's records and testing results including school benchmarks, state-mandated tests, school evaluations, and any other information available; screen for learning disorders such as dyslexia and dysgraphia; determine if your child's learning skills are at grade level; and create an IEP to meet your child's learning needs.
There is a link between ADHD & Dyslexia.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, almost 50% of children diagnosed with ADHD also have a learning disorder such as dyslexia. Boys with ADHD have a 60% chance of having dyslexia.
I have a Master's in Special Education and Learning Disabilities, a sixth-year Reading Consultation/Administrative degree, and advanced reading and remedial arts certifications including certification by the renowned Academy of Orton Gillingham as a Certified Professional for grades Pre-K–12.

Looking for a Reading Expert to provide Professional Development?
I conduct professional development programs for teachers, paraprofessionals, and administrators.
Sometimes, the first sign your child may need some specific learning supports is when they seem to spend a long time on homework.
Children learn literacy skills from the moment they can hear, which starts in the womb! Infancy and toddlerhood are crucial times for learning patterns of speech and communication skills through meaningful interactions.
You may be surprised to know that I work with children as young as four years old. The earlier we identify a learning disorder and put in place an appropriate learning protocol, the more successful your child will be going forward. Working with children at ages 4, 5 and 6 is ideal for launching reading confidence.
If your child is older, it is not too late. I can determine if your child would benefit from specific learning supports to set them up for success in their educational career.
A common misunderstanding is that people who are dyslexic see letters and numbers jumbled up or backward. What is more important to understand is how well your child has responded to instruction on letter formation and fluency. This is something I would examine in a dyslexia screening.
I prefer to meet with you and your child in a quiet space with minimal distractions, often in a reserved private room at the Guilford Library in Guilford, CT. Other options can be discussed.
I understand that your child's needs are unique.
I look forward to talking with you!
